The bright yellow appearance can play a trick with its flavour. Spiciness fills Trinidad Moruga Scorpion peppers, and Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Yellow is one of its variety. This fruit that changes from green to yellow as it ripens has its spiciness at the roof that one strain is found to be the spiciest chilli pepper of 2012. Spiciness kicks almost immediately, unlike other peppers in its range like ghost peppers and habanero.
Simply called Yellow Moruga or Yellow Scorpion, its fruit could reach up to 10 cm long. One of its differences from the other varieties is its citrusy, sweet flavour which later changes into intense spiciness. Its fruit has gnarled pods and a scorpion stinger on end mirrored by its name. Its origin, Moruga, contributed to its name which is a town in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. The plant itself could reach up to 1.5 meters depending on where it is planted.
